Hardware is usually the schedule risk in the deck, and it is the hardest line item to diligence. We read architectures for a living. If a portfolio company is late and nobody can explain why in plain language, that is a conversation worth having.

Internal teams are excellent and permanently oversubscribed. We take the idea-stage and MVP-stage work your engineers cannot context-switch into, run it as a dedicated pod, and hand it back documented.

NASA SBIR photonics program
Six boards on one program — analog front ends, a low-noise transimpedance detector module, a light-source board with current and thermoelectric control, and a mixed-signal sensor board — carried from schematic review through layout, controlled fab release, and turnkey build.
Optical diagnostics and patient-contact instrumentation
Device architecture and electrical design for regulated products — an optical diagnostic instrument and a patient-contact therapy device among them — worked against IEC 60601-1 and FDA submission requirements from the first architecture decision rather than retrofitted at the end.
Inherited firmware, on real hardware
The work nobody else wants: a device that hangs mid-operation, in code we did not write, when the four obvious theories are all wrong. Our published fault-forensics case study walks the dead ends as well as the fix.

We start with a paid architecture and roadmap study
Not a proposal, and not free consulting. A short, scoped, paid study that settles the expensive fork before anyone commits a build budget to it — the architecture, the risks that actually govern the schedule, and what the whole program is likely to take. Most of the money lost in hardware is lost in the first four weeks, on a decision made without enough information.
You own the work product. If we never work together again, you still have a roadmap you can hand to anyone.
What I am looking for
Mostly, people. Founders whose hardware is the risky part of the plan. Investors and operators who run into that problem across a portfolio and have nowhere good to send it. Engineers worth knowing.
Kyros is founder-owned and funded by its own revenue, so there is no round open and no deck behind this page. That said — if you invest in or build hardware companies in this region and think a serious engineering execution layer is worth backing, I am genuinely interested in the conversation.
