The Hardware Brief

The Hardware Brief: the month's market signal for people who build physical products.

The Hardware Brief is a monthly market brief for engineers and hardware founders, curated by Peter Sords of Kyros Engineering in Cleveland, Ohio. Each issue covers what moved that month in regulation, components and supply chain, where Ohio's hardware money and momentum sit, small teams building real hardware, and events worth attending. Every story ends with a plain statement of why it matters to someone building a product. This page archives every issue that has been sent.

It is about your industry, not about Kyros. Each story is self-contained, links to its source, and says what it changes for a team building hardware.

The Hardware Brief #2: what Ohio's new NSF Engine actually funds

Three items this month circle the same idea: on physical products, the expensive decisions get made earlier than most plans assume. There is also a new NSF Engine in Northeast Ohio worth understanding properly, because the headline number and the money a company can actually reach are two different things.
